Within the framework of the series “Atardece en Trópico” (“Tropical Sunset”), the studies Remedios titled “Vorágine” (“Maelstrom”) were born, in memory of and in relation to the novel by José Eustasio Rivera, which she read during childhood—a story of two lovers set between the plains and the Amazon jungle.
The epilogue of the story lingered in her mind and within a few drawings over the years, taking on new forms and resurfacing in these recent studies.
Remedios’ work is an invitation into a secret garden. A space where the most mundane natural elements are reinterpreted into magical moments suspended in time. It brings back our childhood memories and leads us to reflect on our place in the circle of life. A vortex that transports us into a space of poetic nostalgia.
